Santam Santam is the leading short-term insurer in South Africa with a market share exceeding 20%.
Santam offer clients a wide variety of highly specialised insurance products and
services. Our core business has been the same for 90 years - to take
care of our clients' insurance needs. This is embedded in providing
short-term insurance products and services aimed at specific markets,
as well as using and optimising our broker network as the main delivery
channel.
Santam focuses on the corporate, commercial and personal markets.
Client contact centres in all the main cities make it convenient for
the client and broker to manage their santam insurance affairs. We provide
multiple points of entry, so they can choose if they want to conduct
their business personally, telephonically or electronically via our
website. Santam's extranet allows brokers electronic access to our insurance
support systems.
Santam realises that the brand direction encompasses everything else.
It is central to the retention and growth of the business and the
networks that we build. To create brand relevance and differentiation, Santam's brand was repositioned based on the proposition of prevention is
better than cure. Research has indicated that Santam is already
starting to own the concept of risk management in the hearts and minds
of consumers.
To ensure sustainability, Santam's brand can only be built from the inside
out. Therefore, Santam places a high priority on enabling staff
to support the brand promise through service delivery.
Santam views its broker relationships as one of its core strengths and
continues to promote it as the channel of choice to clients. A number
of projects are underway to, among others, restructure the support to
intermediaries and provide a true competitive advantage, as well as
re-engineering the claims processing functionality to provide a better
service to intermediaries and policyholders.
Santam also has two world-class call centres in Cape Town and
Johannesburg respectively. Highly trained santam consultants assist brokers
and clients with, among other, insurance quotes and policy amendments.
With santam assets totaling more than R17 billion, a countrywide
infrastructure and broker network and more than 650 000 policyholders,
our yellow umbrella is truly covering South Africa. Santam also has
business interests in Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia. We hold strategic
investments in various companies in the insurance industry, including
the subsidiary Santam Namibia Ltd.
